Chimes of T-Bank

How It Worked: From QR Code to Animation
Every day from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, a digital script unfolded on the tower's four screens:
- Two screens displayed a QR code leading to a wish-making form.
- The other two showed stylized clocks that triggered an animation every hour: the chimes striking, flying balloons, snowflakes, and the call "Time to make a wish."
Wishes submitted through the form were moderated, and T-Bank employees uploaded them via a special Telegram bot. Starting at 2:00 PM, these wishes began to appear on the screens—one after another, displaying names and text in neat tiles. And at 9:00 PM, the system would animatedly announce the winner whose wish would be granted.
The Technologies Bringing the Screens to Life
For smooth animation and uninterrupted content updates, we used the following technology stack:
- Backend: PHP, Backpack, PostgreSQL
- Frontend: React + Next.js
- Animations: Lottie library
Special attention was paid to integration with third-party software for broadcasting to the physical screens—this helped avoid delays and maintain image clarity.
A Closed Data Channel: How the Bot Worked
The Telegram bot served as a secure channel for content upload:
- It accepted Excel files (.xlsx) with two columns: "Name" and "Wish".
- Assigned a unique ID to each file.
- Accumulated data without overwriting or deleting history.
- Worked only for employees on a whitelist.
This ensured the smooth operation of the entire chain—from collecting wishes to displaying them on the big screen.
Result: Technology as a Conduit for Emotions
Thanks to a well-tuned animation system, precise data upload via the bot, and optimized integration, the project ran seamlessly throughout the holiday season. T-Bank not only created bright New Year's decorations for the cities but also fulfilled the winners' wishes.
The "T-Bank Chimes" project proved that technology can create real magic. When the chimes struck in the evening city and someone's wish appeared on the screen—the digital product became a part of the holiday and human emotions.
